Our priority is to stop the Grange Farm new town proposal in its current form. SAVE exists to protect the character, environment, and long-term wellbeing of Abington and its surrounding villages.
We are a community-led group, committed to ensuring that future development is sustainable, proportionate, and respectful of our landscape, heritage, and natural resources.
The proposed Grange Farm new town, including land from Ley Rectory Farm, represents a scale of development that would overwhelm our villages, place unacceptable pressure on water supply, transport links and local infrastructure, and threaten the chalk stream and farmland that define our environment.
We work collaboratively — residents, experts, and supporters — to scrutinise plans, engage constructively with local authorities, and champion solutions that protect both people and place.

SAVE is a community-led group of local residents united in opposing the Grange Farm new town proposal. We work collaboratively and non-politically to safeguard the wellbeing, identity and future of the Abington villages.
An elected committee of local volunteers leads the campaign, supported by Communications and Research working groups any resident can join.
Geoff provides overall leadership and coordination for SAVE. A retired Management Accountant in the manufacturing and pharma industries, he brings a calm, structured approach to decision-making and ensures the group remains focused on its mission. Geoff has long-standing ties to the village and is committed to safeguarding its landscape, heritage, and community identity for future generations.
Martin has lived in Abington for 28 years and is deeply rooted in village life. A retired engineering and high-tech professional, he previously worked in the innovation and telecoms sector and brings strong expertise in digital systems, IT infrastructure, and structured problem-solving. Married with two grown-up children, Martin is passionate about the rural setting of the ancient village and the strength of its community. He manages SAVE's organisational systems, documentation, and digital tools.
Bridget has lived in Abington for over 20 years with family ties of over 40 years. A retired Change Management and IT consultant, she has a broad range of skills from programme management, business case delivery, change management and financial management. Working with the other officers she will ensure the financial probity and fiscal requirements are met whilst supporting the vision and objectives of S.A.V.E. She is committed to safeguarding the greater landscape of Abington and neighbouring villages for future generations.
Anna moved to Abington 2 years ago and is passionate about supporting our local community. Anna works in luxury marketing and communications, with a specialism in consumer behaviour and reaching target audiences. Her role oversees SAVE's communications, including social media, newsletters, leaflets, and community engagement. She brings creativity, clarity, and a strong understanding of how to reach and mobilise residents, ensuring the campaign remains accessible, inclusive, and well-informed.
James has lived in the Abingtons for 30 years and until very recently ran a local Architectural Practice specialising in residential architecture and small developments. He helps with SAVE's evidence-based work, reviewing planning documents, environmental assessments, and infrastructure proposals. He brings analytical skills and a methodical approach to understanding the impacts of large-scale development on the Abingtons.
Mark works alongside James to lead SAVE's research efforts. He contributes expertise in planning policy, infrastructure analysis, and technical interpretation of Local Plan evidence. Mark helps ensure SAVE's position is robust, factual, and grounded in sound reasoning.
Fergus is focused on SAVE's challenge to the Local Plan and on ensuring the planning inspectors are aware of the full local impact from the proposed new town at Grange Farm. Fergus has lived in Hildersham for 14 years and was an active member of the campaign to save the Pear Tree pub.
Brigitte, a resident of over 40 years with longer family ties, is keen to preserve the village community life and its environment. She supports both the communications and research strands of the campaign, bringing strong organisational skills, local knowledge, and a commitment to ensuring residents' voices are heard.
Zoe plays an active role in community engagement and volunteer coordination. She helps connect SAVE with a wide range of residents, including younger members of the community, and supports outreach activities.
Alan contributes experience in local issues, infrastructure, and community representation. He supports the research group and helps translate technical information into clear, accessible insights for residents.
A resident of the Abingtons for four years, Gurdeep works in scientific research and brings a thoughtful, community-focused perspective to SAVE's work. He supports both research and communications activities and helps ensure the campaign reflects the diversity and values of the Abingtons.
